✷ Hilma Nurmi ✷
I am a visual artist from Finland, living in Tampere. I received my Bachelor's degree in Media and Arts from the Tampere University of Applied Sciences in 2020. My recent artworks consist of drawings, paintings, collages, sculptures, illustrations and video works. In addition, my practice includes different kinds of crafts such as accessory- and jewellery-making, tufting and textile printing.
As an artist, I engage with a diverse array of mediums—acrylic, gouache, watercolour, drawing, and digital illustration—allowing me to explore the layered intersections of topics such as comfort, identity, femininity, and consumption. My works often incorporate tactile elements such as collage, beads, and stickers, adding a dimensional quality that invites viewers into a nuanced sensory experience. Through these varied techniques, I aim to reflect the complexity of contemporary identity and the intimate connections we build with objects, symbols, and materials that define our personal and shared spaces. My practice is a continuous exploration of how these themes converge and evolve, fostering a dialogue that is both personal and resonant.
